How do I get my device on Eastern's Wireless?

Problem

I need to connect my device to Eastern's Wifi.

Solution

There are two different WiFi networks in the residence halls, which may cause you to ask:
The answer is security.
Eastern-Full is for smart devices, like your phones and computers. It offers a higher level of security to protect the sensitive data on these devices (yours and the university's).

Eastern-Peripherals Dorms is for dumb devices, like gaming consoles, Rokus, and TVs. These devices don't store sensitive information AND usually can't use networks with better security. Don't be faked out - even so-called smart TVs are dumb devices. (There's probably some lesson in there that your mom would want you to remember, but whatever ...)
So, without further ado, this is what you want to know:

Connecting to Eastern-Full:

  • Choose Eastern-Full from your WiFi list.
  • You should be prompted for your username and pw.
  • Username: Your EU username is the bit of your EU email address BEFORE the @. Don't include @eastern.edu when you connect to Eastern-Full.
  • Password: We don't know. We could probably guess, since you named it after your cat. But you should know. Also, go ahead, change it. Make it longer; make it something harder to guess!
  • Need more specific instructions for your devices? Look here, screenshots included:

But what if it looks like something big is wrong, like maybe the WiFi is down, or the library databases aren't working?
You can still submit a help desk ticket. But also, we will try to keep you all up-to-date if we're working on something. We do this two ways: by email and on twitter.
Feel free to follow us on Twitter: @EU_CIO  If we are working on a repair, we try to tweet updates quickly. We email less often, but with more details.
